BE THE VOICE, NOT THE ECHO (4TH JUNE, 2014)

The maiden edition of Ehoes and Voices powered by Utopian Events was indeed a highly memorable occasion. Students from various Secondary Schools in Ondo State gathered at the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Hall, Akure to learn, interact and brainstorm on pathways to become assets and not liabilities to the nation.

The participating Secondary Schools are;

- St Louis Grammar School, Akure
- Heritage Secondary School, Akure
- St Matthias Anglican High School, Akure
- St Joseph College, Ondo
- Ondo Boys High School, Ondo
- St Frances Academy, Akure
- Omooluorogbo Grammar School, Akure
- St Helens Unity Secondary School, Ondo

The Debate competition, presided over by Mr Segun Omojola, was such an interesting one as the debaters showcased their academic prowess and presented their views on the topics;

Has social media helped Nigeria’s educational system?
- Parents or students, who should make career choices?
- Computer based test is preferable to handwritten examination
- Followers are more corrupt than leaders in Nigeria

The event reached its climax as the  students thrilled the audience in the dance competition. The crowd was entertained with (foreign) choreography as well as cultural dance. The dance competition was officiated by Ms Olayemi Esan.

At the end of the competition, the top three schools in both the Debate and Dance were awarded prizes. The most coordinated debate team as well as the most outstanding debater also received prizes.

The MD/CRO of Utopian Events, Mr Toluwani Borokini congratulated all the students, he also enjoined them to always strive to develop their potentials not just their credentials. He expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors of the program, the entire Utopin crew and everyone who has contributed towards the success of the event.
